Chloe Hickinbottom in the Britain’s Got Talent Semi Final

Chloe Hickinbottom chose Moon River as semi final song, and was greeting to raptuous applause and cheers from the audience.

Ant and Dec asked Chloe if she had had fun, and she replied “It was brilliant.

“It’s the biggest performance I’ve ever done and I hope my family’s proud of me.”

“I’m sure they are,” replied Ant and Dec, to which the audience cheered some more.

“It’s my dream to sing,” continued Chloe.

The judges comments were also very positive about Chloe’s performance, with Piers Morgan saying that Chloe proved that Britain’s Got Talent, to which Amanda Holden wittily chipped in “Little Britain’s Got Talent!”

Amanda added that she thought that Chloe’s voice was stronger than in the audition, that she liked the song and that the song fitted Chloe’s voice perfectly.

Simon added that he was happy to admit that he was wrong (about Chloe singing a more contemporary song).

He said: “I’m happy to admit that I’m wrong. You know what sort of artist you want to be, I think you are destined for the West End. You have that kind of voice, that kind of personality and incredible confidence for a 10 year old girl.”

However, he added the caveat: “I’m not sure I see you as a recording artist. But I definitely see you with a big career on stage – so congratulations!”

We’re rooting – and voting – for you, Chloe!

Chloe Hickinbottom – The New Vera Lynn?

chloe-hickinbottom Chloe Hickinbottom is ten years old and has wowed the judges with her rendition of The White Cliffs of Dover. Due to be screened on Saturday night, it would appear that young Chloe has the voice to become a modern day version of forces sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn.

Chloe Hickinbottom, who is from Wolverhampton,  has a mature voice which stuns the judges and steals the show, and is an early favourite to win the £100,000 prize and the opportunity to appear at the Royal Variety Performance.

Asked what she would do with the money, Chloe told Ant and Dec: “I’d spend it on tights and leggings and jeggings [a cross between jeans and leggings].”

Amanda Holden said of Chloe’s performance: “I definitely wasn’t expecting that. I can’t believe that a little ten-year-old girl has such a beautiful voice.”

Piers Morgan adds: “I closed my eyes at one stage. You could have been 40 to 50 years old.”

Louis Walsh, who stood in for a Simon Cowell at the Birmingham auditions because Simon was ill, added “I don’t know where the big voice came from. You were perfectly in tune. I think you were fantastic. You could sell records.”
