Chloe Hickinbottom learned the Vera Lynn song “The White Cliffs of Dover” from a YouTube video, it has emerged.

Chloe told The News of the World: “I saw Vera on YouTube singing to troops. All my friends like pop songs but I like old songs.”

However, Dame Vera, who is now 93 years old, has remarked that Chloe is too young to sing the song, saying of the song: “It has to be performed with a passion that a 10-year-old simply cannot embrace.”

Chloe has said that she was inspired to sing the song by her grandfather, who fought in World War II. She used to sit on his knee whilst he recounted tales of battle, whilst listening to music popular during the war.
